48% More users in a Video Remarketing List than paid Views , why ?

Hello,

 

For 1 particular video I am advertising through Youtube In-Stream format, I have gathered so far 55.000-56.000 paid views. The interesting fact is that I have defined a remarketing with the rule "Viewed certain video(s) as Ad(s)" so the audience contains only paid viewers. In any case the viewers from other sources than youtube advertising are no more than 1000.

 

Now the remarketing list for this single video Ad is at 83.000  what is going on ? Smiley Happy

Is it time to contact google through live chat ?

Hi Adrian,
I too am seeing something similar. Not just with video rules, but with ALL rule based lists. They are notoriously inaccurate. I can't seem to figure this out either.

I'm not sure. Like the way sessions and visits are calculated differently, I think this may be a FEATURE. https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1034383?hl=en

I'm running some tests with GA segmented groups but my differences are not even close to the 50%+ difference you're seeing.

Yesterday that video had around 2900 paid views ( 99% unique users because I use a frequency capping of 1 impression per month and a negative remarketing list of all who have seen the video as an Ad).

 

The remarketing list however jumped from 83.000 to 91.000 , as if 8000 new people have seen that video as an Ad Smiley Happy I think it is a big bug with the video remarketing list in particular, it just adds users exponentially. 

 

I didn't notice this problem since  I received a  "Limited by budget" notification on the Display campaign where I use these lists as targeting . Since both have become too big, it seems I need a doubled buget for remarketing in Display Smiley Happy
