Ok so I've been using google shopping which produced many sales. However, now I realize some vendors I work with had watermark images and created uproar on my site and started having other items in my shop disapproved. I sell licensed sporting goods and have work with the various warehouses to ship these out. So these are legit items and problem comes when let say a item "San Antonio Spurs scar" has a logo on the scarf and I think the bot mistakens it as a watermark. There is no watermark or additional text. Just straight up photo of the item and it got disapproved (image attached). I also have items that are from overseas that are generic sporting good items (like knee pads, bikinis etc..) and they put there watermark logo on it and got disapproved. This I can understand why, ,but the spurs scarf should not be disapproved. I contacted google and Im gonna go ahead and prune out the watermark items but is there way for google employees to see that that scarf doesn't violate this policy and overturn the "bot"? This is just an example, i have thousands of items similar to this, while 85% of items are visible and active though.. Currently have around 70k products.

Also, i see competition have the same items on google shopping and not being touched.. System is flawed loJRLTL-751101-SPUR_medium.jpg

first, thank you for the cogent summary.

yes, watermarks or text on submitted images are generally not allowed;
yes, the automated policy-violation-detection systems are imperfect.

for items with preprinted logos -- adding a pattern attribute with
an exact team name, such as spurs, a proper color attribute, and
a proper item_group_id attribute with an identical value for all
items within each variant-group sometimes helps -- for example,
for all such similar (scarf) inventory items that may differ by a
color, or logo/pattern, or both.

proper item_group_id and proper variant attributes are required for variants,
or is otherwise also grounds for disapproval or suspension from the program,
at any time.

generally, flagged items should be considered as an example
and all items inspected to identify any related issues --
flagged or not -- before google flags the remaining items;
google expects all content submitted and on the website
to adhere to all rules and policies.

flagged items may still appear as shopping-ads --

but usually must be fixed in a timely manner or

removed, to avoid a more severe policy flag.

a single disapproval may be for multiple issues.

any severe issue, too many issues, issues reoccurring too frequently, issues
not fixed in a timely manner, a root-cause of an issue that is not identified
and fixed for all items, such that the issue never reoccurs, or all related
items not removed immediately and never resubmitted if an issue cannot
be fixed and continue to be disproved/flagged, may trigger a (permanent)

suspension from the program, at any time.

otherwise, the best likely course is to continue working directly with google;
asking for a merchant-center/shopping-ads support-specialist sometimes helps.

Using shopify. Can't delete products from google merchant in bulk

So i carry licensed sporting goods and have over 70k items and use shopify for the platform. I had to delete all the items on Shopify so i can start scratch and remove the watermarks in bulk using my excel program and reupload it. Problem is, google merchant still shows my products in the feedback and 14k disapproved items. I tried using their beta bulk delete but it doesn't work and still there. What can i do sync my shop and merchant? Shopify has there own google merchant app which is content api and I will try synching by refreshing this app but i'm guessing the merchant center will still have my older products that have watermarks (which i deleted) still up.. so frustrating

Thanks for reply!

So basically the Spurs scarf... A bot has caught this and you are saying I need to override this by

1. Adding pattern attribute. Not sure what you mean by this.. Do i add this in my .csv spread sheet?

2. item_group_id attribute ..    You mean google category? I put all my items under Sporting goods since i sell sporting goods and i think manually getting deeper into the category will probally take anoter life time..

Google shopping and thousands of products = headache Smiley Sad

Is there any third party apps or companies that can take my shop and make google compliance easier.. ?

So I use shopify and they have their own app to upload the products to google using content api. And I like the fact that large amount of items can be uploaded but google is constantly changing their policies and also being more strict on policies so I have to constantly revise my feed.

Is there some sample .csv file with google shopping tab titles where i can put that in my shopify products? It will still take long but seems it will faster then using shopify google app ..  Shopify does well uploading the item but changing the

group category

adwords label name

gtin

etc....

takes quite long.. I think excel spreadsheet using formulas and selecting batches will make is faster..

So does this seem like i'm right? Or my way is slower..

Is this method perhaps work? (i use shopify by the way that has content api app)

1. Download all products from my shop via export and in .csv format. (about 70k items) I do dropship while I carry some items in my small warehouse, while others I manufacture.

2. Open the items in excel. Use some kind of VBA code to fill in google categories
For example, find all the words that contain "Helmet" and fill in the google cat

(1) mixing methods to handle inventory data -- via an app, via the api directly,
via a spreadsheet, via direct (deletes) via the merchant-center-account, etc.,
will typically confuse google to a rather extreme degree and can cause many

issues, that can be terribly difficult and time-consuming to resolve.

generally, choose only one, single, method and stick with that method.

if shopify is currently handling inventory data, then the best likely course
is to work directly with shopify-support, to help resolve any and all issues --

or to cleanly help transition to another method to submit product inventory.

(2) drop-ship supply-chains are generally not allowed for shopping-ads --
and may trigger disapprovals or (permanent) suspension from the program,
at any time.

generally, items must be in the merchant's in-stock physical inventory,
or cannot be submitted as shopping-ads -- drop-ship items should not be
submitted to avoid disapproval or a suspension, at any time; there are
many other campaign types and ad-formats, other than shopping-ads,
that may be used to help advertise such drop-ship related items.
