This client is already linked to the max number of allowed managers
Hey AdWords Community!
This is Uma from the Google AdWords team and I’m going to be covering an interesting piece of information here.
Sometimes while linking to an MCC account, you might see the following error:
This client is already linked to the maximum number of allowed managers.
What does this mean?
If you see this error message, it means that the MCC account you’re trying to link is already a sub MCC under one parent MCC and you’ll not be able to link it directly to another MCC.
This happens because an MCC account cannot be linked to more than one parent MCC directly. For instance, in below example, if MCC 1 is directly linked to parent MCC 2, then it cannot directly be linked to MCC 3 as well.
What You Can Do:
As an alternative workaround, you can link the child accounts of the MCC directly to the new MCC instead of linking the two MCCs. This is possible because any Adwords account can be linked with upto 5 MCC accounts. To make management easier, you may want to create a sub-MCC and link the accounts to that, and then link this sub MCC to the new parent MCC. The diagram below explains both these scenarios:
