New Client Account in MCC

I recently set up a new client Google account using her information so i could link it to my MCC.
I kept selecting the "Google Adwords" NOT "Adwords Express" as i went through to set up Adwords for her.

However, despite carefully saying "NO" to Ads Express.. the account was created using Express and of course,is a pain in MCC now, as I  have to manually switch it back every time I want to see it
UNLESS someone here can explain if I can revert it to Adwords, as the new business support at Google was at a loss when i told them and showed them screenshots of the set up!

My next question is.. where are the LATEST "Set up a Client account USING the facility in the MCC"  to avoid being diverted to Express again!?

My advice from Google New Biz was to ONLY use the MCC " Create a New Account" rather than creating a Google account from scratch for the client .
I have looked around for some SOP's / Info on this-  but no real luck.
 Anyone got ideas?

You're describing a known bug, and there is nothing that can really be done about it. I can relate, it is super annoying having to keep switching.

 

The rep did tell you a pretty good workaround. After you create it in the MCC, you can then give your client Admin Access to it.  I've taken a screenshot to show you the step you are looking for to do it this way:

Yes. I know where to find this is MCC , but thank you.
I am just being extra cautious, as I don't want any "surprises" when setting up the account this way either!
LOL ( Except NOT to select the next one down that says "New Adwords Express account" !!)

I will create a Google Account for the client for Gmail, then finish off the rest in this area In MCC.

I just wanted to know IF there was any Google "Step by Step" instructions on this out there for the MCC that I have missed when looking.

ahhh, I see. I misunderstood what you were asking for.  The process is the same as creating one the way you are already familiar with. The only difference when going through the MCC is that you are essentially creating an "ownerless" account that has a client manager. You'll just need to go to the Account Access area and invite that gmail account you mentioned to be the admin or owner.

Are you saying you used the client's Google Account to create a new AdWords account, then linked it to your MCC?

 

If so, the most likely scenario here is that your client had already created (or at least, started creating) an AdWords Express account with the same Google Account. If they did that, it locked the account type setting as AdWords Express. A direct-login user can switch back and forth between AdWords and AdWords Express by logging into different URLs, but an MCC can only access an AdWords accounts as the original account type.

'Yeah, those guys are idiots. Tell them to escalate your case to their global support team's AdWords Express queue team and ask for help changing the account's account type setting. A Googler who knows how can do it in 3 clicks of the mouse.

Good to know that there is a potential fix at least!
As far as I know there was no attempt earlier to set up Adwords or Adwords Express, as it was a brand new Google Account.

considering I've sent in two different queries over the course of a few years about this, it was always escalated to a specialist, and I got the same response about it being a bug and other members here have confirmed that was their experience... I'd really like to hear more about this 3 click fix. It's not a huge issue, but it certainly causes a hiccup in my workflow.

@MichaelBauser was correct.
I rang Adwords support about another matter and while I was on the call explained this issue.

They fixed it immediately- this account was switched to Adwords and is no longer in Express.
So.. I no longer have to go to those 3 little dots in top right cnr when redirected to Express to say "Adwords"!

Suggest you call 1-800-287-850 and see if they can assist as I am not sure IF you have been speaking to the right team
My New Business Specialist at the time was clueless about this.
