New AdWords Editor

I just downloaded the new AdWords Editor (11.4.2) and it keeps on closing while downloading (+Add) my accounts. I am using Windows 10.

Also during at least the last two updates the accounts are not backed up before the upgrade.

Anyone having the same issues???

Installing a later version of AdWords Editor does not remove the previous version, including the data.

Assuming you were using 11.3.3, and then upgraded to 11.4.2, you would have the following folders for the different program versions:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\AdWords Editor\11.3.3
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\AdWords Editor\11.4.2

You should also have the following folders for the corresponding data versions:


If you want to run the older version, to compare behavior to the latest version, you can navigate to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\AdWords Editor\11.3.3 and double-click google_adwords_editor.exe.

The problem you refer to about accounts not getting backed up was reported by another user, but something we've been unable to reproduce on Windows 7.

What's happening in this case is that the account list from the old version isn't getting copied over to the new version. One thing you can try if you don't have any meaningful data in the new version is deleting "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Google-AdWords-Editor\222", then running "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\AdWords Editor\11.3.3\google_adwords_editor.exe".

This will prompt you to switch to the new version, which you should do. You should also see your account list.

Your account hierarchy appears large. If the application is closing on download, it may be that you're trying to download too many accounts at once and we're not handling that correctly.
