Changes to location extensions

I discovered a couple of weeks ago that one of my client accounts had their location extensions linked to my login for my MCC. In other words, my client's location extensions were linked to the Google My Business account for my business, not his. There is no option to login to/sync with another Google My Business account and there is no option to add a manually entered address (which is what was there prior). I have spoken to Google support. The person I spoke with is unfamiliar with the history of changes to this extension and doesn't understand how I could have 100's of accounts linked to manually entered location extensions. She also doesn't understand how I can have 100's of accounts linked to their own Google My Business account. She tells me the location extension will seek the My Business account information associated with my MCC's login and that's it. So am I to understand that my team will have to ask over 400 clients to add us as managers to their Google My Business accounts, in order that we can add their addresses to our MCC login profiles  and then have to create filters in each account to ensure only the proper addresses are showing with each account??

This can't be correct. Please tell me this is a glitch of some kind. This is a nightmare. What kind of "update" is this?

Hi @Corey O

Interesting case I am no specialist in things GMB - we actually do have all of our clients add us as a manager on their GMB as a standard thing, we are usually doing SEO+PPC and GMB is useful for both - but we operate with a tenth the volume of clients you mentioned so it was no giant task.  I am interested to see what the answer is for someone in your situation.

Reposting is frowned upon but in this case it may be that a GMB specialist is best equipped to answer you question so if you don't get a good answer within a day from this AdWords thread perhaps post over in the GMB section as well.
