allowed to advertise to sales page?

Hi! It says "You aren't allowed to run interest-based advertising campaigns that collect personally identifiable information (PII) including, but not limited to, email addresses, telephone numbers, and credit card numbers" and since I'm swedish with only descent english, I just want to make sure I understand it correctly. Does it mean I am NOT allowed to advertise a sales page that will ask them to click a button that directs the visitor to a paypal payment page (where I of course collect either credit card info or paypal account through paypal)?

Hi Marcus,

If I understood the scenario you are saying that you want to promote your product based website and you will be asking for personal identifiable info (which is obvious) when the users opt for purchasing your product on either paypal page or some other way. Let me know if that's the case here.

Google does allow this and there is no harm in it as far as my understanding goes. Only important aspect of this is whether you have defined the Privacy Policy page clearly on your website or not. You should explain how you make use of the cookies and how the info provided by the user will be used up. And on top of this, you should be using the secure payment gateway (SSL) to collect sensitive info.

Hope that helps!

Hello there;
Nice to see someone who reads the policy, before starting to advertise... Smiley Happy  (Not many do  so...)

As for the question:  you are perfectly fine. Collecting personal data for  a payment transaction is OK . The Policy clause,  you are referring to,  applies to websites that their primary goal is collecting personal info (e.g . to sell it to 3rd parties.)

This is obviously NOT your intent, hence the following applies to your site:

  • SSL requirement: Websites that are not harvesting information from users, but that collect sensitive personal information (such as bank details and credit card numbers) must use a secure processing server (https://) when collecting this information. AdWords policy requires the following information to be transmitted securely over an SSL (https ) connection:

Oh just one thing, since Paypal is using SSL I don't have to do anything more than mentioning that in my Privacy Policy right?
