Tip for new none-english speaking users

Google have very strict policy for AdWords. At any time they can shut down your account without motivation. Regardless if you are big or small. Moreover, the desicion is very final and effective forever. In other words, if your small hobby-company gets its account closed, you can never work with AdWords again at any company.

The people at google that are trying to check if your webpage comply with their policy does not always speak your language. I guess they use google translate which we all know is not perfect, which means they can eaisily misunderstand what you are selling and close your account forever without warning and without any way to appeal.

So, if you are from Sweden, never ever use the swedish word for six (which is "sex" in Swedish) because Google will misunderstand what you are selling and ban you for ever.

And if your name is the rather common Swedish name "Gun" you can forget about using AdWords....

I tried to sell a feeler gauge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Feeler_gauge.jpg) and the google employee did not understand the text but obviously thought i was selling a pocket knife and bande me for breaking the no-knife-policy.

In short: Do not put to much time and effort into AdWords. It is just a mather of time before you are baned regardless of how much you try to comply with the policy.

Hello MatsSoder; Welcome;

LOLL....This should NOT have happened....

It is correct that Google uses automated tools to check ad text and web pages. However, those are language targeting, customized to a given language, and should be able to "catch" the different meaning of similar words, in different languages. (They usually do a pretty good job...).

If the automated tool makes an error identifying the meaning of the content / text, then human reviewer (fluent in Swedish - a native speaker ) goes through the ad and the website's content.

Have you tried to call support in Sweeden. They speak Swedish there...

Hello and welcome,

It's really unfortunate if this has happened!

But Adwords support 42 languages around the globe and there are different people working in different languages to take care of the ad approval and account related issues.

As Moshe said above, I would strongly encourage you to speak with Swedish support at 0200 125 776, 9am to 6pm weekdays and explain them this situation. They should be able to sort this out.

I have tried that. I have spooken to English-speeking staff, Swedish-speeking staff, Danish-speeking staff and Norweigian-speeking staff. They all agree on two things:

1. There has probably been a mistake

2. There is nothing i can do about it because the "decision is final".

I have also exchanged many mails with the copy-and-paste answering machine that always reply with some version of "Your account is susspended due to policy violation, here is a link to the policy...."

Regardless, i will not put any effort into AdWords or any other Google product because Google has proved to be a very untrustworthy and unserious business partner.

And that decision is final...

Hello MatsSoder;

If that was a mistake of the system, it should be corrected. We can ask Google senior policy specialist to look again into the case.

However; you are saying that you are "over" with AdWords.... If you wish that we give it a try, let us know, and I will, gladly, refer the case to the Google Policy team, asking a senior specialist to review the case.

Regardless if this issue is solved or not the fact remains: Google is not a serious business partner and no sane company should become dependent on any Google products because there is nothing preventing Google from just dumping a customer with no explanation or compensation.

Therefore i will not put any effort into AdWords and i am migrating away from Google Apps, Google Play, Google Shopping and any other Google-based product. And i recomend all other serious companies to do the same.
