The use of the word Hemp

My site and ads have been disapproved due to the word HEMP.

The site is http://purehempbotanicals.com

The products we sell are available even in the Grocery stores here in California. The products fall well within the government standards and are completely legal.

There are many many products that use HEMP, contain HEMP and are HEMP.

I have 2 questions in the moment:

Why is there a double standard with Google, allowing products to be sold via Google Shopping and not allowing use of the word HEMP in AdWords?

Why does Google have a policy that is against the word HEMP, which is completely legal in the United States, there are many Hemp companies, from clothing, to skin care to companies like ours that produces oil based product that falls well within the federally mandated guidelines and has been proven to provide relief for many different ailments, from pain to helping with Cancer patients.

Please advise.

Hello @Sean K

If we are talking about HEMP as a variety / type of cannabis - this  is not allowed to be promoted, in any format: as a keyword to trigger a search ad or on the display network

Though the AdWords Policy and the Shopping Policy are not yet fully harmonized, in the case of cannabis and its varieties - the same section of the Policy applies: recreational  drugs (chemicals or herbs) are not allowed.

Thank you for your reply... the double standard continues in that my competitors, both CWHemp.com and Bluebirdbotanicals.com are both advertising using Google AdWords.

The products are non psychoactive and are completely within government standards and with less than .03% of THC.

Any idea how/why my competitors can advertise?
