Policy violations ignored by adwords

My website url was banned by adwords as my website is to do with electronic cigarettes and so is against the tobacco products policy. I thought this was fair enough, as long as it is the same for everyone..

However this was 3 months ago and I have observed since that time that several websites that sell exactly the same as my website, are being shown and actually dominating the search results above the fold, they are not being taken down, despite my having reported them using the form to do such and even having spoken to an adwords representative who passed it on to their specialist team.

How long does it take adwords to review such ads, as it is infuriating that they are able to use adwords whilst I can not and 3 months seems a long time to wait.

If you search in google.co.uk for "e liquid", you can see all the website that are breaking various policies such as tobacco products and bridge pages. I want to ask why these are getting thorugh despite being reported and being in obvious violation of adwords policies. It is not fair on those of us who adwords blocks for showing the same info, as they are being given an unfair advantage and we can not compete.

Hello Wanda and everyone,

I'm from Google Policy team and am clarifying a couple of things here on our complains process:

Thank you Wanda for reporting these violations. Please be assured that all complaints are reviewed by humans and Google takes user feedback very seriously to ensure fair and consistent application of our Policies Smiley Happy

In order to identify the specific accounts reported by you, we need the tracking URL of the ads.

You may follow these steps to obtain a tracking URL for these Ads:

In IE:
- Search for the ad on Google or a partner website by typing the keyword that triggers the ad.
- Right click the ad, and select "Copy Shortcut" from the list.
- Paste the URL in Notepad.

In Firefox:
- Search for the ad on Google or a partner website by typing the keyword that triggers the ad.
- Right click the ad, and select "Copy Link Location" from the list.
- Paste the URL in Notepad.

In Chrome:
- Search for the ad on Google or a partner website by typing the keyword that triggers the ad.
- Right click on the ad, and select "Copy link address" from the list.
- Paste the URL in Notepad.

Once you've obtained the above info, please follow steps listed on http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=176378 as mentioned by Moshe.

Most of the complaints we receive do not contain a valid tracking URL due to which we are not able to take the appropriate action(s). If you've already reported the above data, please be assured that your feedback will be worked on.

Thanks again for your cooperation and understanding.

Have a great weekend.

Rashmi

It is not really about my url that is banned, as I am not suggesting that my website is not against the tobacco products policy, my website sells electronic cigarette supplies and it is clearly stated in the policy that electronic cigarettes etc are not allowed.

My complaint is that the other websites sell exactly the same and are being allowed, despite being reported, they have conitinued to show up for some months since my website was banned. A couple have bridge pages, but a couple do not. They sell e liquid, e cigs etc. And all the urls show up in google.co.uk when you type the search term "e liquid"

Thank you for being vigilant. I search e liquid on google.co.uk and found those ads.Our Community Managers and Adwords Team can investigate this issue. Clearly, any violation of restricted products should be dealt with in a timely manner. We all aim to have zero tolerance for non compliance. Unless,there are policy changes that are publicly announced and the help center is not updated yet.

More Power,
Loraine

Hello again wanda;

Please use the following link to report a policy violation, that the robots/ crawlers searching landing pages have not identified / triggered

Thankyou, but as I mentioned in my post, I have already reported the violations, and I used that link you have given to do so,  but after some weeks the ads still remain. In fact some of them have remained for months.

I have asked someone at adwords whether the policies have changed and they have told me no, that the policy with regards e cigs etc remains the same as when my url was disallowed.

@wanda

Google does NOT report back / disclose the results of its Policy violation investigation(s). We can  report a "suspected" / questionable site. The rest is up to Google to decide,

We are willing to have a look at your site, to check if it violates the Policy. However, as far as other sites are concerned, - reporting is the only tool we have at our disposal.

That seems to be a violation of the Policy;

I think what has happened is that the (policy) bots/ crawlers have not been programmed to trigger ads with "E- liquid ", which is a more of a British English term,  than American English Smiley Happy
