Payday loans Ads

My client's website is suspended in Adwords for violating ad policies regarding payday loans (offering loans for less than 60 days). After checking the competitors and their solutions for this, he (the client) made a custom landing page which is not offering any loans, it's just a presentation of his mobile app. The page has no widget for applying for a loan, neither advices on how the visitors can get a loan from it. All other competitors made the same trick: they created custom landing pages, either for respecting the policies for payday loans, or general landing pages with no loan widget. On their home pages, they still offer 30 days, even 15 days loans. Hence, according to Adwors support team, they are not respecting Adwords Policies for websites. Even so, my client's website is still suspended, and the competitors websites are showing in Adwords. After discussing with an Adwords representative from support center, he found out that the entire website must respect the policies, not only the landing page. He asked the support lady why his competitors can have ads even though their websites don't respect the policies, and the answer was "I don't know". Can someone explain me this discrimination? Why one website can have Adwords, even though it's not respecting the policies, and another website can't? Is this a normal and fairplay approach? Thank you

The Rep was correct. No payday loan can be offered on the website unless complies with the Policy in a given territory.

If your clients think that computers are in violation - he could file a complaint

Note: not always what seems to be a violation  found to be a violation. For that a thorough review is required.

The problem is:
Website A does not complies with the policy (ex: it offers loans for less than 60 days) and it's still allowed to run ads
Website B, which also does not complies with the Policy, is suspended in Adwords
Website C does not complies with the policy and it's allowed to run ads
And so on.
At first, my client was told that one landing page is enough. Now, he's being told that the entire website must follow the rules.
All other competitors websites have just one landing page that complies with the policy, and the rest of their websites are just like they were before this policy. Meaning that they are still offering loans for maximum 30 days, 15 days, 45 days and not for minimum 60 days, as the policy says.
All the complaints filled had no effect whatsoever.
In my opinion, this is not fairplay. Either Google suspends all the websites which does not complies with the policy, or it allows all websites to run Adwords if there is a landing page which complies with the policy.
If a thorough review is required, why nobody does it, even though there are already several months since the policy was changed?
It's not the policy that annoys me, because my client is already working on changing all his products according to this new policy for payday loans (not just the website or one landing page, but literally all his products). What annoys me is this obvious lack of ethics and fairplay in Google's approach. It's something like in Orwell: " All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others".

Hi Ioana,

We get this question a lot - why have I been suspended and not my competitors who are doing the same thing?

Because many of these processes are automated, Google clearly has the processing power to check every advertiser. However Google does not have a unlimited supply of support staff. My guess is that if they suspended everyone at once, their support staff would not be able to cope.

Ultimately I expect that they will all be suspended, but it might take some time. I still come across text ads with phone numbers in the ad copy. This was forbidden a very long time ago, and is easy to check for...

Hi Loana,

Some sites that are illegal fall through the cracks and are able to be advertised. they will be banned in time

Hello Loana,  probably by now all these competitors are down.  I'll at least explain from my experience the frustrating question of "Why Me, Not Them?" question I get all the time:

In general, you have to remember that the AdWords environment is mostly a Google bot running it (a real watered down explanation, its far more complicated than that) and the bots have specific coding to look for policy issues.  However, the Google bot is not "God" as in its not omipresent.  It has finite resources capacity like every server and code.  Thus is is prioritized.  Without third party interference, such as a user reporting the violation or a manual review, the google bot gets to accounts and ads when it catches it and the account goes in "que" for editorial team review.  Depending on the violation, the bot may take down ad or wait until editorial team reviews the ad, thus there can be a human element to the delay.

But in the end, they all go down.  Some quicker than others.  Just remember, more than likely someone who was suspended before you was probably complaining to Google that your site was still up and running and that you are doing the same "trick" (lol) you were.
