 I have been going around and around trying to promote our Meth Cleanup services with no luck.  There should be an exception for someone promoting cleanup...not the sale of meth.  I have gone through all the channels short of becoming a pharmacy to get our adds to show.   I was told to remove all references to meth remove it from my landing page then it will work...did that but now im not showing as a meth clean up company just a cleanup company.  I know protections are in place for a reason but come on...im part of the fix not the problem.  This is very frustrating

Hi Tim H,

Have you considered branding yourself as a "Chemical Waste Cleanup Company"? That way you won't have to use the specific terms?

Hmm... This is very interesting since meth is also a drug...
I don't see any ads for meth cleanup programs,, It could be that meth cleanup is not allowed.
Do you have any competitors advertising?

not localy, This seems to be a problem with Google and our industry. I understand about advertising for meth...that would be wrong but my keywords are specific to cleanup as
Meth Lab Cleanup
meth cleanup
Meth Lab Residue cleanup
Meth Lab residue testing

These adwords are specific to cleaning and are our industry is being discriminated against do to our association with the word meth.

This would be an unfair characterization of our company. We do not clean up chemical waste. That is a much broader classification including waste oil, pesticides, paint and solvents, which we do nothing with. We do have a landing page that is for meth cleanup which will trigger a denial of google adwords as well.

Hello Tim;
I have asked a colleague of mine who is an environmental engineer to brief me on the issue, and specifically how come a chemical contamination (cleaning program) has become a drug. Once I better educated on the topic, I will be able to suggest a course of action.

Tim;
Just to make sure that we are "on the same page" with this issue:
When saying "Meth" you mean Methamphetamine. And by "meth cleanup", you are referring to a clean up procedure after the "lab" is seized by law enforcement agencies.
Are we "on the same page"?

Hi everyone,
I thought i'd throw my comments in here as this directly affects me, and my business.
I too have been on the merry-go-round trying to get approval for my business to advertise on Adwords.
I also have hit brick walls at every turn. this is a reply i received from adwords support after about 2 weeks of back and forth communication and phone calls to them.

" Dear Steve,
I re-discussed your case with the Policy Specialists in detail. Here is what they have confirmed.

Google doesn't allow the use of prescription drug names, regardless of the context in which they're being promoted. So, unfortunately you'll have to remove the term 'Meth' from ad text and keywords.

Additionally, the same is not even allowed on the landing page of the website. So, prescription drug names appearing on your landing page like 'Meth', 'Methamphetamine' etc. also need to be removed.

You can use the term 'Drug' or any such general term instead. As your site name remains the same i.e methlabtesting.com, so that should help you promote the specific purpose if needed.

Steve, please understand I'm also trying my best to help you but I can't override the policies, so that has to be complied with in all circumstances.

Appreciate your continued cooperation.

Best Regards,

Arshi "

Now for the real issue. My Registered Business name is, Get ready for it.

METH LAB TESTING AUSTRALIA PTY Ltd

and my web address is www.methlabtesting.com.au

Now that comes up on every landing page????????????????????????
how am i supposed to remove the word METH from my landing page when it is my business name and still have relevance to, who i am, and what i do,

I feel it is ridiculous that someone in a multi national company that employs so many people can't look at the situation and make a rational decision rather than dipping the old paint brush and painting everyone the same.

Lets hope that someone from google sees this and realises that there is a major downfall in this particular protocol and ruling.

regards Steve
