Keyword insertion in the Display URL

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

I have been noticing lately that many advertisers appear to be inserting text into their 'Display URL" field, instead of displaying a URL. I have spent ages trying to figure this out when creating a Text Ad, but if I place anything but a URL in the Display URL field I get an error saying "Invalid characters in URL:"

Can anyone explain where I am going wrong please?

Troy, you don't need to add quotes around full stop. Anand just meant you to end you description line 1 with full stops, question marks and more whatever fits well. Also just wanna let you know not necessarily your description 1 will be merged with headline but there is a possibility. Read more here.

Hi Troy,

I am little confuse on what exactly you are asking. Can u please come up with example? If you are talking about inserting keyword TEXT in display url - We can insert text in Display URL, should not contain spaces and should not be more then 35 characters and more. Some of the examples below:

Xyz.com/GreatDeals
abc.com/Buy_Now

More on Display URL and policies: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2616010?hl=en

Thanks for your help Neha Gupta,

If you follow this Google Search link you will see how 2 of the ads do not have URL where Display URL should be, but instead have text.

Thanks

Hey Troy,

Do you mind sharing a screenshot for us? Because for me all ads are fine with correct Display url.

Thanks

For example. The Top Line of the ad is displayed for one of them as;

Luxury Wedding Packages - Unique & Tailored Wedding Packages‎

How do I add the "Unique & Tailored Wedding Packages‎" instead of a URL?

Thanks

No need of a screenshot. Oh I got what you saying. You asking about Domain name showing in Headline. Here you can read more information about it.

Hi Troy,

Please use "." at the end of your Description 1 then you D1 will automatically show with your Headline as per your example.

Thanks,
Anand
