Inconsistent advert approval / rejection.

Hi,

Is it a gamble if ads get approved or rejected depending on who is checking them?  I assumed it was automated but why do the results vary so much?  I have had my ads rejected for containing adult picture or video content (it contains neither) yet the exact same banner approved on other occasions, is there a way or tip to avoid the unnecessary delay these false rejections cause?

Thank you

Hi,

Google's policies are quite strict and it's easy to violate them, if you didn't read them well. So, the first thing you should do is to review the gambling policies to know exactly what your ads are violating:-

In terms of adult pictures or videos, this falls under another category of policies, you need also to check it out:- https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/6023699

Finally the approval process, all ads go through an approval process to make sure they're safe and appropriate for users.Whenever you create a new ad or make changes to an existing ad, your ad automatically gets submitted to Google for review. Google reviews your active and paused ads, keywords, and website according to our advertising policies. Most ads are reviewed within 1 business day. Thank you, sorry I was not clear it is not a gambling ad, I meant gamble / lottery as to if the ad gets approved or not.

I have read the rules and I am certain the ads are fine, in fact I have used the same banner without issue in the past, then today it gets rejected for adult content! The same banner which has been used without issue in the past, very strange.

There must be a reason. Since it seems an account specific issue and we here don't have access to any accounts , I would recommend getting in contact directly with the AdWords specialists , they will review your account and will let you know the reasons why your ad gets rejected. http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&hlrm=en&answer=8206

Yes I did go down that route the same time I made my initial post here, got a reply about 30 mins ago saying now approved, yet still showing as disapproved in adwords. Will leave it until morning and hopefully they have updated, no idea why the results are so mixed.

Ads are checked by bots (i.e. robots), which if find a "suspicious image or text"   trigger the ad to be  re-checked by a human reviewer.

Once the ad is checked by a human reviewer the  protocol is strict;

Now; there could be ads the "escape the radar". However, ads are routinely checked - so,  it most likely be disapproved  during(one of the) coming  rounds of   routine checks.

I engaged with google support as I thought it was strange getting the same ad rejected which was approved before and it was the content on my site which was causing the rejection (dating site), strange however that the error was "adult content in flash or video ad" which led me to think it was the actual banner rather than the landing page.
