My Adwords campaign after 17 years has been blacklisted by Google Penguin and no one will tell me

1) how long this will be

2) what was wrong with my site that was published by the largest internet marketing firm in the country ( www.criminal-law-attorney.com )  and

3) what I can do to make it right. I am ethical and have integrity.

Hello phyllis2 and welcome to the Community;

  • Penguin has nothing to do with AdWords; Those are two separate systems....
  • The history of AdWords doesn't go that far.... I think that the first introduction of AdWords was somewhere in 2001 or 2002 (under a different name) and the basic principles of AdWords PPC, as we know them today were set in 2004- 2005. (I could be wrong by +- one year)
  • Your account was suspended since you are advertising illegal products. I understand that you are NOT advocating these services. But, it could be that the spiders and the bots check the content of your site found keywords related to illegal services, and inferred /implied that your site is promoting illegal services.

I will refer your case to Google to be reviewed by a human policy specialist.

Thank you very much. As a criminal defense attorney of high integrity, someone who formerly served as a Deputy Attorney General for the California Department of Justice, and has the highest rating from www.avvo.com:

http://www.avvo.com/attorneys/92101-ca-samuel-spital-248191.html,

with about 95 five star client testimonials and attorney endorsement, I simply focus on helping prospective clients that have gotten in trouble with the law, whether drugs, sex crimes, domestic violence, theft, or juvenile crimes, that need an advocate who knows the law, understands the importance of rehabilitation, remorse and mitigating factors so they receive an opportunity for a judge to see both sides and have a balanced presentation.

However, no one I called or wrote to at Google can help me and it seems this is the single most important thing that has ever happened to my marketing campaign at Google.

My history is a pioneer in advertising since 1978 when the US Supreme Court made adverrtising for lawyers legal. I was the first to advertise on Television and one of the first online.

It is just as tragic for me as the prospective clients I cannot serve until this situation is remedied. I am most grateful for any insights or assistance you might provide.

Sincerely,

SAM SPITAL

Hello again Sam;

From looking at your site it looks that the case is one of those, where technology (still) can't win over human, when interpreting /reading a written text. Google is moving forward, and ultimately will get there, in both language and text interpretation. In the meanwhile, we do need, from time to time, the assistance of a human brain / mind.

Have you tried to contact Google's customer service?

Yes, I have contacted Google on countless occasions and bvoth via telephone and email. All they keep telling me is they are not aware of any such problem and it is not within their expertise. This is going on for several weeks and even by them implying they would look into it or escalate the issue, no one has got back to me nor offered any hope. That is why I thought I would try this forum, being lost in the system.

I thought the government lacked the means to solve problems, but hoped Google was staffed by more enlightened people who have the power to solve problems and initiate action to obtain results.

I remain optimistic but every day it costs me business and it is a challenge to survive with no end point in sight.

Thank you for all the time you put in to helping the public. You are a good person.

Why does he need a privacy policy ? Per what clause of the policy?

Hey All,

Is there room for one more in here? Smiley Happy

Sam,

Can you please clarify a couple of things for us?

1.  You mention that your AdWords account is suspended.  Did you receive any emails or are there any notificaitons in your account that lead you to ANY reasoning at all behind the suspension?

2.  You mention Penguin, why so?  Have you been affected by this algo update on the organic level?  How did you deduce this fact?  I was still able to find a Google Places listing.  I also found this site:  http://www.spitalaw.com/  not sure what is going on with that but it is adding to my confusion quite nicely.  Your site(s) may have been hit by a recent Google update but it is not "black listed"  if you search for the domain "http://www.criminal-law-attorney.com" your site is still indexed with Google.

Ultimately, the two potential issues are separate but understandably both concerning.  Please clarify what you can for us and we'll do our best to help you out, at least with the AdWords part.

I apologize for identifying the problem as ADWORDS, but it is indeed part of the issue. It is like what comes first the chicken or the egg. Here I have a site, www.criminal-law-attorney.com,  that was listed on the first and second pages of organic listings.Now, it is not on the first 100 pages of all relevant key words.

Because the site is not getting top rankings, it gets fewer visits, which in turn has an adverse effect upon my Adwords account since they get low quality scores and not high rankings. Hence, the costs per click are higher as well. But, I can deal with an inadequate PPC campaign, although it certainly deserves to be resolved. But, not getting the high rankings is the natural listings with an otherwise really informative and relevant criminal website, causes me much disappointment and not having anyone at Google to help, no matter who I have called or sent emails to, is not right and I deserve better.

As to my www.spitalaw.com site, yes this one is mine but not geared 100% to criminal law. It focuses on the other practice areas I handle, such as litigation, professional state Board license defense, etc.
