Google Ad denied for policy reasons, but competitor was not?

Hello, I have been using google ads for about a year with great success. We are selling firearms accessories. Recently the ads were shut down for policy reasons. I get that, but what I don't understand is why a competitor, selling the exact same thing, with the exact same keywords, is allowed to have their ads shown? I don't understand why one site would be denied and another allowed. This has been going on for about two months now.

Hi Eric,

Your ads ran for a year. The policy didn't change, Google just doesn't disapprove everyone straight away. Your competitors will be disapproved, if they are breaking policy rules, one day.

My guess is that they throttle the bots so they have enough humans to verify if a site should be suspended.
