Competitor Double Serving Ads

 I have the same problem with a large competitor.   On any given search related to the products I sell,  4-5 of their ads show up with different websites listed.  The ads lead to the same EXACT products.  It's been going on for years and Google does nothing to stop it.   I suspect it's because the competitor spends millions with Google and less customers equals less customer support employees.

The long term effects for Google should be obvious.  Once this online behemoth knocks out the competition, they will be bidding against themselves and ad rates will fall for Google.  I read on a blog that Google salespeople may be helping large companies with this practice so it is easier for them to meet quotas.

If you do a search for Louisville Cardinals Apparel, you will see ads for Shop.CBSsports.com, Ladyfanatics, Fansedge.com/Louisville, Rivals.teamfanshop, Louisville.fanatics.com, Shop.gocards.com/Cardinals, shop,NCAAsports.com, etc.

I highlighted the ads which all show the same content.

Link to a screenshot of competitors ad. ( I couldn't figure out how to show the screenshot in the forum)

Thanks

Hi Bill,

There are few companies in the world to whom Google as allowed double serving. One of the companies that I know to whom Google has allowed double serving is Tradekey.com.
Tradekey spends thousands of dollars every month on adwords.

Hello;
Double serving is not allowed unless exemptions listed on the double serving Policy . (Regardless of how much the advertiser spends);
I will escalate the case to Google

Hi,
I think Fanatics probably gets away with it because they are representing other entities such as NCAA , Yahoo Sports, CBS Sports and Fox sports. That still doesn't explain how they double serve for the companies the directly own, i.e. Footballfanatics.com/Louisville, Fansedge.com/ Louisville and Ladyfanatics.com/Louisville. I have to believe it is because Fanatics is probably one of their largest advertisers.

Hello Sayem,
My competitor probably spends 1 million plus per month on 600 million in sales. They are clearly double serving. The last time I checked they had the top 3 positions with the exact same products and websites that just have different urls. It can only be explained by their adwords spend.

Hello Moshe,
Just wondering if Google ever gave an explanation of why they are allowing Football Fanatics to triple, quadruple and quintuple serve adds.

Thanks for your help.

As said ; Double serving is NOT allowed. Though some businesses do find ways to "game" the system. Those cases need to reviewed by a specialist, and it takes some time.
Has the issue resolved or we need to escalate again?

Moshe,
I noticed that my Ad positions went up as well as my CTR. Did a search for Louisville Apparel and my competitor now only has one or two ads showing instead of four or five. So it looks like it worked. It's amazing to see the immediate results.
Thanks so much for your help.
