Collecting names on Landing page?

Howdy, my site has been suspended with "User safety" being the reason.

I recently received an email from my Google adwords consultant saying they want me to remove the opt-in form asking for customer details, however customer details are necessary only for arranging an appointment. Plus I've transparently let them know why they're adding their details, plus there's the option of phoning me

Have a look and see if you can find anything out of order

Health and Safety Manual and System

I wasn't aware Adwords advertisers aren't allowed to collect customer details.

I appreciate any suggestions

Cheers

Thanks all for your awesome suggestions and advice.

This is my first adwords experience, and I can honestly say it hasn't been a good one.

I thought I'd done everything correctly.

The original email from Adwords officials was vague and only mentioned "User Safety".

I believe after much searching and scrutinising about the topic, I must have breached

the information harvesting section.

Collecting personally identifiable information Allowed with limitationsGoogle allows sites that collect personally identifiable information from users as long as this is not the primary purpose of the site.

Regarding my landing page... the form asking for peoples names is not the sole purpose of my landing page.
  • I have a toll free phone number for people to call me.
  • There is information about health and safety that businesses must address.
  • There are navigation links leading to other pages (articles) in the footer

I've been dealing with an adwords consultant from Philippines who has been helpful.

A supervisor from the same company was responsible for suspending my site (interpretation me thinks)

My consultant is the go-between. Woww! it sure takes a long time to get these issues resolved.

By no means is this a "beach-fest". It's a "work within the system" and improve as you go scenario.

I'm going to make sure I follow everything to the letter of the law from now on and triple check.

This is a great community... thanks again

Hi,

There was an error with the link and I was unable to check your page. However, one suggestion for you is to add the Privacy Policy link below the form. This link, when clicked, should take the user to your website's Privacy Policy page. The link need not be elaborate but should clearly state that the user's information will not be shared with any third party.

Let me know if this works.

Hi again,

You could link this text that you have below your form 'Your information and Privacy is 100% secure with us. We take safety seriously. We will always provide the option to unsubscribe from further communication' to the Privacy Policy Page on your website 'http://www.healthandsafetymanual.co.nz/privacy-policy/'. After making this change, resubmit all your ads in AdWords.

Let me know if this works.

Hi

I think your correct landing page is http://www.healthandsafetymanual.co.nz/

and your privacy policy page is http://www.healthandsafetymanual.co.nz/privacy-policy/

I think you should add that user data will not be shared with 3rd part in section "What we do with the information we gather"

Also there can be confusion with terms of adwords which say "Google AdWords doesn't allow websites whose primary purpose is to collect personal information. This includes, but is not limited to, websites offering free gifts or other incentives in exchange for personal information. We refer to this practice as "information harvesting".

http://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/bin/answer.py?hl=en-GB&answer=190438

I would suggest you clarify that issue with adwords support. I personally dont see anything wrong with page other than above mentioned points

Hope it helps

Hello All;

Please note;

As of the revised version of "information harvesting " section of AdWords Policy, the requirement for "disclosure before visitors submit personal information" (originally included in May 2011 version) - was removed.

There is no requirement, anymore, by Google, to include Privacy policy disclosure statement, unless required by local law. However, it's a good patience to have it.

So, in my view, a request for an email address is not a policy issue. I think that the bots that check the landing page got "confused" between human health and occupational health and safety in work environment (OSHA) - the website focus.

I will ask Google to review the suspension

Wow...

I still haven't resolved my site suspension yet.

I haven't been able to deal with the supervisor who suspended my site, but instead have been dealing with an adwords support person, who then forwards my questions to a supervisor.

The feedback I've received is minimal to zero.

But I haven't given up yet.

Questions:

Is it common to not deal with supervisors?

Is it always this slow regarding disputes?

Is there anything else I can do to speed up the process?

Thanks

@lightcam ;

We forwarded / escalated your case to Google for review on June 19. You should have been contacted by a Google Rep by email. Have you?

@MosheTLV - Yes I was contacted thanks,

But, the feedback was minimal and my site is still suspended.

I have removed the opt in form from the sidebar with only a link to a contact form.

I'm waiting patiently

I was just interested to know if this is normal?

Cheers
