Character Limits for Arabic and Simplified Chinese

Hello friends,

For a client we are setting up Campaigns in Simplified Chinese and Arabic. Now, for our translation agency we have to define character limits for Expanded Text Ads and Callout Extensions. When I set up a test campaign, it will show me that I have a normal limit. When I copy in some Chinese words, it sucks up all the available characters quite quickly. Of course, I do not see where a Chinese character starts, and where it ends. Does anyone have any experience on double width characters, and can perhaps help me out? For Arabic I am assuming that we have the same limits as to for example English.

This source unfortunately is outdated, as it only focuses on Standard Text Ads: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1704441?ctx=tltp

1 Chinese char is double byte, thus
Headline 1 - 15 Chinese chars
Headline 2 - 15 Chinese chars
Description - 40 Chinese chars

Hi @sierrrd

With Arabic there should be no issue; Do remember, though, that Arabic is written right to left;

Chinese - the best would be to ask (in English) our colleagues in the Chinese community;
