Can you buy adwords for personality or celebrity keywords?
I've noticed that if you google a well-known person, there is often no sponsored ads - is this because Google will not sell sponsored ads for "person" searches - e.g. "Jessica Simpson" only for generic phrases like "Texas real estate" or something?
Re: Can you buy adwords for personality or celebrity keywords?
We don't have a specific policy against using keywords that are also a celebrity name. However, one of the biggest factors that determines if we serve ads and which ads we serve is quality score. Essentially, quality score is a measure of relevance. We want to show the user an ad for exactly what they're looking for, so we evaluate how the relevance of the keyword, ad text, and landing page matches the user query.
So if a user is searching for X celebrity, they probably want to see an ad about X celebrity and go to a website about X celebrity. They probably aren't wanting to see an ad for real estate if they're searching for a celebrity.
