Can we have two different destination URLs within our compaign?

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Hello.

We have been running a small campaign for a while without any problems. Yesterday, we activated another adgroup which sends users to a different domain from our previously active adgroups. We did this by individually setting the "Destination URL" for each of the keywords in the adgroup. Now, all of the keywords in this adgroup are marked as "Keyword Disapproved" and the email we received stated that the reason was something to do with the destination URL.

How can we fix this? Do we have to run two separate campaigns? According to the help function, it is possible to have different destination URLs per adgroup but perhaps this is only possible if they are the same base website?

Thanks in advance,

Kelly

Hello Kelly,

Please make sure that you adhere to the policy of one display URL domain per ad group.  As per Google notes quoted below:

We only allow one display URL domain per ad group. This applies to all active and paused ads. If you want to advertise a site with a different domain, we suggest that you create a new campaign or ad group.

Hope that helps!

Pankaj

You can have different Display URLs in different ad groups.  Just make sure the Destination URL eventually (if it has any redirects) leads to the domain of that Display URL.

Hey Kelly,

Yes. The URLs within an adGroup need to be of the same domain.

If you want to send users to a different domain, you will have to create a separate campaign.

Ideally, for advertising for a separate domain, you should have a separate account. This would enable you to set different account level setting for 2 different businesses. Also, the performance of one domain will not affect the rest of your account.

Hope this helps! Smiley Happy

Cheers,
Shweta

Hi Kelly,

Actually you keywords get disapproved due to different destination url which are not belongs to same Website.

To fix this issue you just need to correct the url which you are using and then resubmit your keywords and ads.

For another url please create a new campaign.

According to Google :

"We only allow one display URL domain per ad group. This applies to all active and paused ads. If you want to advertise a site with a different domain, we suggest that you create a new campaign or ad group. "

Thanks very much.

At present, we have tried to have one destination URL per ad group. So, two of our ad groups send the user to one destination domain and our new ad group sends them to our second domain. So, I don't think we are getting this bit wrong.

This brings me perhaps to a slightly different question. You used the term "Display URL". Is this different from the "destination URL"? If so, then it is possible that this is our problem. Related to this - can we have one display URL for one ad group and a different display URL for another ad group?

Hey Kelly,

The display URL is what you see on your ad on Google. This sets the expectation for users as to where they would be taken.
The destination URL is where the user is actually taken when they click on your ad. This is the reason that a display URL and a destination URL needs to match in terms of having the same domain so that users do not feel cheated when they actually land on a page.

For a different campaign, you can have a different destination URL with a display URL for the same domain as this URL.
Cheers,
Shweta
