At what point does AdWords hash Google Match Data?[ Edited ]

I have been trying to get a definite answer to at what point AdWords hashes the data if you upload emails as a CSV - "You may upload a list of email addresses that you have already hashed using the SHA256 algorithm, or, if you upload a list of email addresses in plain text, AdWords will hash them for you using the same SHA256 algorithm, which is the industry standard for one-way hashing."
Is the customer data hashed within the browser like other networks such as Facebook & Twitter before it is transferred or does this occur after the data is transferred?

Thanks for posting to the Community! With Customer Match, the hashing is done locally on the computer that is used to upload the files, and therefore can be done securely from within your own corporate network.
