Adwords suspended

In april 2010 I set up 5 campaigns with the intention to get to know the adwords system and use it in the future.

Not having my own business or products at that time I found out about clickbank. It seemed a great oppertunity at that time, how naive.

The campain was active for about 10 days and after that I did not use adwords at all.

In may 2011 I got an email from adwords that my account was suspended. When contacting Google at that time I only recieved standard emails so I thought it was impossible to do anything about it.

Now having my own business I'd realy like to use adwords. So in March this year I decided to contact Google again. I spoke to Google on the phone and managed to get e-mail contact with an amploye. He was very helpful but in the end the conclusion was that my account only could be unsuspended after changing the websites that were used at that time.

I tried to contact the owners but 4 out of 5 did not respond. I contacted clickbank and got this as respons:

Thank you for your inquiry! All ClickBank vendors go through a screening process to make sure that their products or services are legitimate. Unfortunately we have no control over Google's policies. If they are unwilling to accept the advertisement that you have posted, you may wish to consider either altering your method of advertising, or finding a new vendor to promote.

If I knew then what I know now I'd stay away from clickbank and all their products as far as possible.

Google is right about banning them from the system.

I know I made a terrible mistake and find it frustrating that I can't do anything about it since I can't change the websites.

I hope that in the future Google creates the oppertunity to remove the url's completely out of my system and I can start fresh with Adwords.

For now, perhaps my experience can help others not to make the same mistakes I did.

Hello again  patrickvb;

Just to make clear :

After you stopped using the account:

  • No activity was on the account between April 2010 and May 2011 (Approx  for 1 year). - i.e Google was not charging you during this time period.
  • If you did not use the account after April 2010: - why didn't you close it in April 2010? (After the 10 days during which it was active)

Hi Moshe,

That's right. I just pauzed all campaigns. Google didn't charge me anything after april 2010.

I was planning to use adwords in the future for my own business so there was no need to close the entire account.

OK : I am referring your case to Google asking a Policy specialist to look into that.

Hi Mosh,

I just got a response from Vasudeva from the Google AdWords team.

Bottom line is "Hence, I confirm that until and unless the websites which are in violation with our policies are fixed to be compliant. Your account cannot be unsuspended. For your reference, I would like to provide you the details of your websites and their violations and information on how to bring them into compliance with our policies."

Off-course, I knew that allready form previous conversations. I was hoping my explanation of the situation and the circumstances would make a difference but unfortunately they don't.

I'd like to thank you very much for your effort.

Best regards,

Patrick

Doesn't the info provided help you in bringing the site into compliance?

Hi Moshe,

I linked the adverts directly to the websites with the clickbank product. I know now this was very stupid but this means I don't control the site content.

In march this year I tried to contact the site owners and clickbank, hoping I could motivate them to change their website.  4 out of 5 site owners didn't even respond. Clickbank's response I mentioned earlier. Reason enough to doubt their trustworthiness/ intentions.

So it's unfortunately impossible for me to bring the sites into compliance with Googles policies.

Allthough I'm willing to do whatever it takes, I've learned from my mistakes, I understand Googles policies completely,  I'm out of options. For now it seems there's no such thing as a second chance...
