Adwords Account Suspension

I've called and complained and got some condescending Sheldon like Google employee who just went in circles telling me I had to fix some website that I used to advertise for years ago and it's not even in business anymore, I never owned or controlled it.  The guy eventually said he'd file an appeal for me but some shady group within Google denied my appeal.

WAY back in 2007 I dabbled in affiliate marketing with Clickbank offers and I didn't really know what I was doing.  I abandoned that but the campagin was I guess active even though I wasn't and there was no real advertsiging going on since it wasn't funded.  I never saw the emails they supposedly sent me.  I trid to delete these questionable campaigns and it won't let me.  Why is is so impossible to ALLOW someone to clean up their account especially if they have learned a lot since then and just want to use it within the current terms of service?  Is that so friggin hard to understand?  Don't the PHD's at Google understand this simple fact??

This is nuts.  It defies logic.  I am not affiliated with the site from like 2007 and I have no control over it and to my knowledge it's not even online so how the heck can I "fix it"?  This is stupid.

These stupid all or nothing policies with no discretionary room have to go.  Google is abusing its effective  monopoly power in Search and advertising.

These policies make the Church of the Middle Ages look liberal by comparison.  Maybe Google ought to just tie me up and burn me at the stake as a heretic!!  Can't I just buy an indulgence and call it a day?  Whose golden ring do I have to kiss over there to be forgiven for some long ago transgression?

This is beyond stupid and a reflection of a company that has gotten so huge and has entire divisions that are poorly managed.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for posting on our Community forum. Firstly, we do understand that in situations like your policy violation that it can be frustrating going through a review of why your AdWords account was suspended. Throughout the process, anytime you are disapproved for a policy violation, you are notified via the email address on the account. In the event that those violations are frequent and/or not addressed, a suspension can follow. That appears to be the case here especially since there appears to be a long period of time that passed as you described in 2007. We are not questioning the legitimacy of your business, but we do require that our terms and conditions as well as our policy are met. Having said that it looks like there was a another review of your case recently. Please check your email within the next business day for the latest status of the review.

Like I said, the emails went probably to a filtered folder and were never seen. Even so, if someone plays catch up later there should be some sort of way to discretion to happen and Google to say, "oh, we see, it wasn't on purpose - oh, he wants to make this right, okay then let's fix it" - not this 3 strikes you're out forever or whatever you call it. It's not fair, and it's bad business. Also, you can't hold someone to fix a website that they have no control over. Disconnecting from it in every way OUGHT to be a viable solution for everyone involved. I can't believe that this is how one of the largest companies operates. It's one thing to levy the suspension. I get that. If there was no response then fine. There are a myriad of reasons how this can happen. The important part is that when someone comes to you in order to fix it, the process should not be to wag the almighty finger and tell then they're SOL forevermore. Who operates like that??

Of course it's not resolved. It's still suspended and probably will be until the Sun turns into a Red Giant because Google has no discretion, no penance, and no path back to operational access for anyone unlucky enough to (knowingly or unknowingly) violate their terms.

Tom,

I am sympathetic about your recent experience with your AdWords account suspension. Please clarify, did you follow up with the email suggestion from the AdWords support specialist on 9/30/2013?

Your account was suspended due to a site that was recently advertised through your AdWords account. Although you may have removed this site since our latest review, advertisers that promote these types of sites are still subject to account-level suspension. In order for your account to be unsuspended, you must address the policy violations with that site (http://affiliatesecretformula.com/). Fortunately for you, that domain currently appears to be for sale, so it may be possible for you to purchase it and make the necessary changes yourself. To request an appeal after making appropriate changes to the site, please reply to this email.

If you have not followed through with this suggestion, I highly recommend you do. Until this situation with the policy violations is addressed, your account will not be unsuspended.

So google is telling me that I have to buy some defunct domain... and do WHAT with a defunct domain? Correct what? Make what changes to the site that doesn't even exist? If I get the domain name, it would map to a blank hosting space that I set up, assuming that the domain in question is even affordable.

Do you realize how silly this whole thing is?

I appreciate your sympathetic ear, but this whole process is idiotic. Don't you agree??
