Ads approval process

Hi,

Is anyone aware of any delays in ads being approved.  Many ads I have set up/changed have been at eligible for many days, without changing to approved or disapproved.  Last time I read the process I believe it was meant to be 3 business days, and the process is  automated usually. So why ads over 10 days not changing?

Hello shads1973;

We have had complaints about  delays in ad approvals, that took in some cases 5-7 days. Google says it's a  shortage  of ad reviewers . (Probably some of it due to summer vacations)

There are frequently delays. I always wondered what went on in that department and what the life of an ad reviewer was like. I don't imagine that's what they signed up for when they started in Google!

Anyway, as Moshe said, they can take up to 7 days. I've experienced longer in fact.

For some reason though, if it's longer than 2 days, I edit the ad and resubmit it. I believe it then goes to a different reviewer or somewhere else in the queue and it usually resolves the problem.

Finally, if your ad or landing page is in ANY WAY skirting the lines of policy, they wont get approved.

Try resubmitting and let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the reply, will just be patient.  Usually system has been good with same day approval, especially when its really just new products Im linking to on really old ongoing campaigns with the same site that has existing ads running without problems

Not sure why the thread is marked as resolved, as nothing has changed.  Many ads still in eligible status and not changed, have tried editing a few last night but nothing has changed.  Status cant stay in eligible and nothing else for eternity?

If your ads have been under review for more than 3 working days you can let our specialists know and request an expedited review via this link here

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, system seems to have caught up on itself as many pending ads have been reviewed.

As a complete newbie to Adwords it can be a little daunting setting up a new campaign and Ad Group (as well as getting down with the lingo).

There are some good tutorials and resources but the user experience (especially for a newbie) of getting keywords approved and knowing what stage things are at could be improved without too much effort by Google.

My experience so far has been:

  1. Log on and get familiar with the dashboard etc.
  2. Figure out I need to start a campaign and then add an Ad group
  3. Add keywords (positive and negative).
  4. Wonder have I done everything right? Is there a step I missed?
  5. Wait.
  6. Login, Keywords not approved.
  7. Wait.
  8. Login, Keywords not approved.
  9. Wait.
  10. Login, Keywords not approved.
  11. Go to Community, post this comment.
  12. Wait.

I could go on but you get the picture. My main issue is not finding the information it's more the uncertainty of not knowing if I've missed something or completed a step wrong.

Email updates or in app messages would be great here. I'd be reassureed if I got an email/message saying 'Thanks for submitting your ad. It is currently in a queue for review by a real human being. This takes time and we appreciate your patience'.

This could be followed up by an update every 24hrs letting me know that my ad/keywords were moving up the queue and would be reviewed in X estimated time.

Would anyone else like to see this improvement?

When adwords works...its great...often real time...changes can be made and most of the time being automated you can get ads up and running within hours.  Recently it seems every change is taking an age to go through the system, existing campaigns with successful ads that Im adding to just sit in eligble for over 7 days, for more then not they then change to approve, but its frustrating as its not real time and resulting in loss of income.

Unless every single ad/keyword is being manually reviewed? Cant imagine that to be the case
