Ads Suspended Due To User Safety Policy

Ads have been suspended due to user saftey policy. This has been an ongoing issue since November 4th, 2012 and we just don't know what to do. What really strikes us odd is that amazon is allowed to advertise the same exact product, with no disclaimers and us small guys not allowed to advertise the product at all, because they say the product isn't safe for users.

After we got the notification from Google, we hired an advertising lawyer to look through the site and he told us to change a ton of stuff. So after we change the site we submit it to Google for review and the reviewer said the site was fine. So I ask him another time to double check and this is what he responds to the email:

"Like I said in my earlier emails that the website was fine"

He tells us that we can activate our ads. After we activate our ads, we get the same "account suspended" email a few days later. We email back our adwords specialist and he tells us that he is sorry and that we cannot advertise our product on Google Adwords.

This strikes us odd because Amazon.com advertises the product on Google Adwords with no problem and their landing page says the same stuff as our use to say before we made changes, because we all take copy from corporates website.

What's even odder is that our product / ingredients isn't listed under the banned substances / products page. What is even more odd is that I found companies like "hydroxycut" which is listed as a substance you cannot advertise, still advertising thier products on Adwords, along with about 20 other banned substances that Amazon is advertising, delivery traffic to product specific landing pages, for those banned substances.

Just wondering why these big companies are able to advertise and us small guys are not able to do the same.

In conclusion, we've just deleted the campaign for our product regeneslim and we are just advertising our patented leather lid inserts products, which we've never received any account suspension for. I guess weight loss industry is very tough to get approved, unless you are amazon. Funny eh?

Hello leatherlidinser; welcome;

Something doesn't sound right in the process: when you re-submit the site for the second time, a senior policy specialist should check the fixed site.

  1. Why did you ask to  double check?
  2. Can you share your website URL with us?

we never submitted the site for a second time, we asked to him to double check to make sure he didn't miss anything and that's when he said the website is fine.

Also, I called Google Adwords after we got the second account suspension and we talked to Ryan another adwords specialist and he said that he was sorry, he looked through the emails and also told me that the specialist that was handling the ticket made a mistake and that we would not be allowed to advertise the product on adwords.

In return, he did provide us with a $100 credit for the error. So, I guess that is good because we generally spend around $500-$1000 for Leather Lid Inserts and $100 credit would be perfect for us to create a new campaign to give back to our customers Smiley Happy

Hello again leatherlidinser;

Well...In this case, the policy is obvious, and is NOT subjected to interpretations (as we have recently had in cases of weapons and Pharma clinics).

You cannot advertise this product on AdWords ,since it violates, first and for most, the "health care" section, and might also violate the "user safety" - for promoting a diet without exercising.

As for the health care section: the policy clear. It can be easily noticed, that this supplement cannot be advertised on AdWords:

"Google AdWords doesn't allow the promotion of the following pharmaceuticals and supplements, irrespective of any claims of legality:"

  • Herbal and dietary supplements with active pharmaceutical or dangerous ingredients (while you claim "Features two superior Clinically Proven ingredients")
  • Non-government approved or non-prescription products that are marketed in a way that implies that they're safe or effective for use in preventing or treating a disease or ailment (while you claim: "Formulated with your lifestyle in mind and overall better health: )
  • Products that imply or claim that they're as effective as prescription weight-loss drugs (while you claim: "Promotes a healthy body weight and lean body mass")

I also looked at the product website (http://www.discountslim.com). I think that there is also a violation of the "user safety" section of the Policy. However; I will not discuss that, since I think, that the violations (found) of the "health care " are substantial enough, for prohibiting the promotion of the product on AdWords.

Still doesn't make sense considering that the original specialist said the website was "good to go" and also why is it okay for amazon.com to advertise the product so blatantly.

  1. The product is all natural, no pharmaceutical or dangerous ingredients.
  2. The product is proven to help people get rid of diabetes, we also have a pharmicist who joins our thursday meetings, who approves the product.
  3. We do not claim the product is as effective as prescription anywhere on the site.

Also, discountslim is not the website that was under reivew, so please get facts before slandering us over the internet, which is against the law Smiley Wink

We also have yet to recieve an email from the original adwords specialist who is currently handling the ticket. He has not owned up to making a mistake, Ryan was the one who did the ethical thing and said they made a mistake and offered us a credit for the mistake.

Either way, it doesn't matter, we will not be advertising the product on adwords anymore but it still doesn't answer our main quesiton, why a big corporation is allowed to sale the product, while a small company is not.

Same thing with other products like hydroxycut which has been actively being advertised on Google for well over 4 years.

Here's a quick 10 minutes of investigation to show many other products that are so called "banned" that still pop up from big companies. Seems a bit odd doesn't it Smiley Wink

Hello again;

I did not say that www.discountslim.com was a site under review. The Policy refers to "products". Since the Amazon advertising page does not provide full information, and full a disclosure about the product, I checked the product site.

Quotes:

  1. >>The product is all natural, no pharmaceutical or dangerous ingredients.- If you claim "clinically proven - it means that they are considered a medication / Pharma product.
  2. >>The product is proven to help people get rid of diabetes, we also have a pharmacist who joins our Thursday meetings, who approves the product. - Doesn't that imply that the product is as effective as a medication / Pharma drug?
  3. >>We do not claim the product is as effective as prescription anywhere on the site.- Again, if you claim "clinically proven" - it is interpreted, that it was tested according to a "clinical testing protocol" for its effectiveness, and received a regulatory approval (e.g . FDA) - Did it?

As for your last comment, that bigger competitors' ads and, similar sites were approved. Google doesn't favor one site over the other. All equal, as far as complying with the Policy. We have had a few cases, where prohibited products were advertised without being "caught" by the system. The moment they were reported - they were removed!

[Edited]: I agree that the list of products you posted, at first glance, apparently,  do not comply  with the policy. I will ask a Google policy specialist to look into that.

I reported amazon on November 4th nothing has been done.

  • Promotes a healthy body weight and lean body mass
  • Curbs your appetite and enhances your energy
  • Formulated with your lifestyle in mind and overall better health
  • Features two superior Clinically Proven ingredients - ChromeMate and SuperCitrimax
  • Be healthier, Lose weight , Have more energy

That's exactly the type of verbage our site had on it before we hired a lawyer to look over our website.

Also, that was just a small search, I just went through a majority of the banned list and have found a substantial amount of products that are against policy, yet nothing is done to these big companies.

Companines include:

wal-mart, amazon, ebay, and target
