AdWords USA V UK Differences

I am going to run adwords in the USA for the first time and am trying to find out if there are any differences compared to the UK. Im particularly interested in ad policies and ad text formats.

Welcome to the community.

 

The ad text format remains the same so there is no need to worry about that. The policies can differ between the two countries as you can see on the Casino and Gambling example here, I suggest that you go through that left hand list and check out the policies which apply to you.

It's really good practice to see that someone before advertising in US want to get complete understanding of Adwords policies, which many don't actually bother to look for.

 

This reference comprises of the list of policies which probably you are looking for.

I would also indicate that the Geo targeting is different between the US and the UK;

  • While in the UK you can Geo-target the country, a region or a city, in the US you can Geo-target smaller areas: you can target by state, by metro region, and up to a zip code level
  • Please also remember that, though in the US, English is the major language, it is not the only language. Spanish is widely spoken in the US, and you might want to target the Spanish native speakers.

Hey Paul2020,

 

More than the policies, I would just like to remind you about the language usage. By language here I mean is that your ads are required to be written in US English and not in UK English. ex: optimise is optimize, a tap is known as faucet in the USA. These kind of small but yet very important changes are always to be kept in mind else a user from USA will find it hard to connect to an ad which according to them is spelt wrong.

Hello, I have advertised at 1am to 7pm ??????? I am in the UK but am targeting the USA. I was told by the adwords team that this would be 8-1 pm in USA but I have zero impressions nothing for 1am friday, I'm confused and a little angry please help me?
